Marwin Vega peaked at AA.

Vega signed with the Seattle Mariners in 2003; the scout was Curtis Wallace. He made his pro debut with Aguirre, going 4-4 with a 2.52 ERA and a team-high 50 strikeouts. In 2005, he pitched for the AZL Mariners (4-2, 4.73, Sv) and the Everett AquaSox (0-2, 12 R in 8 2/3 IP). The next year, he posted a 5-10, 5.34 record for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He tied Todd Blackford for third in the Midwest League in hit batsmen (15). In the Seattle chain, he tied for third in hit batsmen and was 6th in wild pitches (15).

Vega repeated his 5-10 performance in 2007, this time with the High Desert Mavericks; he had a 4.90 ERA. He was among the California League leaders in losses (tied for 7th), hit batters (tied for 5th with Javy Guerra, 14) and wild pitches (tied for 5th, 16). In the Seattle chain, he tied for 7th in losses, tied for third in wild pitches and tied for third in hit batsmen. That winter, he pitched one game for the Cardenales de Lara, allowing four hits, two walks and four runs in 2 1/3 IP and losing his decision.

Marwin moved to relief with the 2008 West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, going 3-3 with two saves and a 4.72 ERA in 46 games; he walked 44 in 68 2/3 IP. In '09, he pitched for the Mavericks (18 H, 14 R in 8 1/3 IP) and Diamond Jaxx (0-3, Sv, 5.27). He ended his minor league career with High Desert in 2012, with some atrocious numbers - 55 hits, 13 walks and 46 runs (39 earned) in 29 1/3 IP for a 11.97 ERA, 2.32 WHIP and .385 opponent average.

He was with the Colombian national team for the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. Starting against Brazil, he retired leadoff man Paulo Orlando but then left with a leg injury. Ivan Julio relieved and Colombia wound up losing, 7-1.
