Biographical Information[edit]

Martires Arias has pitched in the minors.

Arias was signed by New York Mets scouts Ramon Pena, Ismael Cruz and Frank Taveras Jr. in July 2008. He allowed 21 runs (11 earned) and 21 walks in 24 IP for the 2009 DSL Mets. He improved to 6-5, 3.15 for the 2010 DSL Mets 1, tying for second in the Dominican Summer League with 15 hit batsmen. In 2011, he was 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA for the GCL Mets, issuing 13 walks in 14 innings. He improved to 2-2, 2.76 in 12 games for the Kingsport Mets. Back with Kingsport in 2013, he fell to 1-7, 5.81. He tied Robin Lever for second in the Appalachian League in losses, one behind Andres Machado. The Washington Nationals took him in the AAA phase of the 2013 Rule V Draft.
