Biographical Information[edit]

Martin Červinka has played in the Extraliga and for the Czech national team.

Červinka hit .435/.552/.609 with 10 runs in 6 games in the 2015 European Junior Championship, handling 13 chances error-free and going 4-for-4 in steals. He tied for 7th in the event in average, was 10th in slugging, tied Andrea Sellaroli for 3rd in OBP, tied for 2nd in runs (one behind Max Draijer) and tied for 4th in swipes. [1] He batted .267/.333/.267 in the 2015 U-18 Baseball World Cup and led the Czechs with five runs. [2] He hit .250/.250/.286 in the 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup; at age 19, he was much younger than the cut-off. [3] He debuted in the Extraliga that year, going 0 for 2 for Draci Brno. [4]

In 2017, he was playing regularly for Draci Brno, batting .248/.301/.289 and going 10-for-12 in swipes. He was 4 for 12 with a hit-by-pitch, double, four runs and two RBI in four games in the 2017 CEB Cup, tying Michal Zýma for 3rd in the event with 11 assists. Brno won the event. [5] He hit .235/.375/.235 in the 2017 European U-23 Championship. [6] He went to Wake Tech in the US for college alongside Martin Mužík and produced at a .295/.409/.402 clip. [7]

He did a fine job for Draci Brno in the 2018 European Champions Cup; the young third baseman hit .412/.444/.765 with four doubles, six runs and three steals (not caught) in four games while handling two putouts and thirteen assists without an error. He was 5th in the event in slugging (between Quintin De Cuba and Sascha Lutz), tied Thomas De Wolf and Gianison Boekhoudt for the most runs, tied for 7th in hits (7), led in doubles, tied former major leaguer Alex Romero for 3rd in total bases (13) and tied Lorenzo Di Fabio and Leonel Cespedes for the most steals. [8] His regular season in the Extraliga was not as good - .255/.327/.327, .913 FLD%. In the 2018 World University Championship, he kept putting up big shows: 5 hits and 4 runs in a win over Australia, one of their two hits in a loss to Taiwan, 3 hits and 3 RBI in a win over Russia and 3 RBI in a win over Hong Kong. He finished at .538/.556/.731 with 7 runs and 9 RBI in 6 games, though he fielded .875. He made the leaderboards in average (tied for 4th with Yuya Gunji), slugging (6th), OBP (9th), runs (tied for 1st), hits (14, 1st, 3 ahead of Tatsuya Ochi), RBI (tied for first with Denis Leonov and Yuuki Yoshida), doubles (tied for 2nd with 3) and total bases (19, 1st, 3 ahead of Ochi). Červinka made the Czech squad for a senior-level event for the first time at the 2018 Super6. He was the main third baseman for the Czechs, thoughn a high-offense event, his .357/.357/.643 batting line did not stand out. His first hit and first homer both helped in a 15-10 comeback win over Belgium, with a RBI double off Yannick Gontier in the 7th to make it 10-10 and an insurance homer off Robbe De Jongh in the 8th.
