Biographical Information[edit]

Mark Hampton pitched in the minor leagues and the Taiwan Major League.

Hampton was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 10th round of the 1989 Amateur Draft, and he went 0-2 with a 4.79 ERA for the GCL Astros in his first season. He was 3-5 with a 6.93 ERA for the Auburn Astros in 1990, then he left the Astros system. Hampton went to the Texas Rangers, and he was 4-9 with a 4.91 ERA for the Gastonia Rangers in 1992. He then pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1993, and he had a 6.43 ERA in 11 games for the Beloit Brewers while having a 2-1 record with a 5.51 ERA for the Stockton Ports. Hampton was 3-3 with a 3.89 ERA and 6 saves for the Alexandria Aces in 1994, and the Pittsburgh Pirates signed him. He went 5-5 with a 4.13 ERA for the Augusta GreenJackets in 1995, and he returned to the Aces in 1996.

In 1996, Hampton pitched 15 games with a 2.70 ERA in Alexandria, and he also recorded a 6.33 ERA in 16 appearances with the Amarillo Dillas. He was 8-5 with a 6.72 ERA for the Abilene Prairie Dogs in 1997, then he improved to 4-3 with a 3.42 ERA and 8 saves in 1988. Hampton then signed with the Taichung Agan of Taiwan, but he struggled there as his ERA was 9.95 in 5 games. After leaving Taiwan, he 4-3 with a 4.96 ERA and 7 saves for the Ozark Mountain Ducks in 1999, and he went 9-11 with a 5.25 ERA in 2000. He pitched 7 games with a 5.36 ERA for the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings in 2002, then he announced his retirement.
