Manauris Baez has pitched as high as AAA.
Baez played in the New York Yankees chain as a position player in 2006, hitting .261/.324/.339 between the DSL Yankees 1 and DSL Yankees/Padres. The Yankees released him in 2007 and the Kansas City Royals signed him as a pitcher. He was 2-2 with a save and a 2.89 ERA in 15 games for the Burlington Royals. Manauris remained at Burlington in 2009 and turned in a 8-6, 3.41 record with one save. He was 6th in the Midwest League in ERA (between Simon Castro and Henderson Alvarez).
In 2010, the right-hander was not as sharp for the Wilmington Blue Rocks (2-4, 4 Sv, 4.13) and Omaha Royals (2-2, 7.09). The next year, he pitched for Wilmington (1-1, 2.33 in 8 G) and the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (1-1, 4.46). That winter, he pitched for the Toros del Este of the Dominican League, going 2-1 with a 1.66 ERA. In 48 2/3 innings, he allowed only 28 hits (one homer) though he did walk 25. He led the league in ERA, .24 ahead of runner-up Francisley Bueno. In the playoffs, he moved to the Águilas Cibaeñas.
