Biographical Information[edit]

Maksym Gupalenko has played for the Ukrainian national team.

In the 2021 European Championship Qualifier, he backed up Illia Velykyi at catcher, handling three putouts and not batting. Ukraine won a spot in the 2021 European Championship. [1] In that year's U23 European Championship, he was 0 for 6, fielding .900. [2] In the 2021 European Championship, he again backed up Velykyi, getting into two games. Starting against Germany, he drew a walk from Lukas Steinlein and laid down a sacrifice against Lennard Stöcklin before Velykyi took over; on defense, he had one putout and allowed one steal. He played the entire 13th/14th place game versus Greece. He struck out facing Alex Gounaris but then drew walks from Gounaris, Daniel Gosselin and Yanni Orfanidis to finish the event with a .800 OBP.
