Biographical Information

Maksym Gupalenko has played for the Ukrainian national team.

In the 2021 European Championship Qualifier, he backed up Illia Velykyi at catcher, handling three putouts and not batting. Ukraine won a spot in the 2021 European Championship. In that year's U23 European Championship, he was 0 for 6, fielding .900. In the 2021 European Championship, he again backed up Velykyi, getting into two games. Starting against Germany, he drew a walk from Lukas Steinlein and laid down a sacrifice against Lennard Stöcklin before Velykyi took over; on defense, he had one putout and allowed one steal. He played the entire 13th/14th place game versus Greece. He struck out facing Alex Gounaris but then drew walks from Gounaris, Daniel Gosselin and Yanni Orfanidis to finish the event with a .800 OBP.
