Major League Baseball African Elite Camp

The Major League Baseball African Elite Camp (previously known as the Major League Baseball African Academy) was started in 2011 to help develop young prospects from across Africa. African prospects had attended the MLB European Academy from 2005-2010. The first camp included 40 players from South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Cameroon, Zimbabwe and Kenya. Instructors at the African Elite Camp have included Rick Magnante, Homer Bush, Craig Lefferts, Mark Melancon, Gerald Perry and Lee Smith.
Players signed from the Academy/Elite Camp have included Callan Pearce and Rowan Ebersohn. Other attendees have included Kyron Bibis, Kyle Gaddin, Robert Okello, Michael Omeri, Jimmy Ssekandi and Paul Wafula.
