Biographical Information[edit]

Luis Quiñones has pitched in the minor leagues and been on the Puerto Rico national baseball team

Quiñones was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 34th round of the 2019 Amateur Draft. He had a 2.97 ERA in 10 games for the Vancouver Canadians in his first year, and he also pitched 6 1/3 innings with 2 runs allowed for the Bluefield Blue Jays. He then pitched for the 2020-2021 Indios de Mayaguez after the coronavirus shut down the minor leagues, and his ERA was 3.00 in 6 games there. Quinones went 2-3 with a 3.00 ERA in Vancouver in 2021, but he slumped to 2-4 with a 5.20 ERA for the AA New Hampshire Fisher Cats. For the year, he struck out 115 and only allowed 51 hits in 75 1/3 IP but walked 65. Only Zach Logue had more K by a Jays farmhand, but Luis had the most walks (four more than Adam Kloffenstein). He struggled again in 2022 as he was 0-7 with a 5.45 ERA for the Fisher Cats], and he also pitched 2 games with the Dunedin Blue Jays. Quiñones then represented Puerto Rico in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, but he didn’t appear in any games. He improved to 4-5 with a 4.80 ERA in New Hampshire in 2023, and he allowed 10 runs in 7 innings with the AAA Buffalo Bisons. His ERA was 4.76 in 5 games in Mayaguez in winter. He started 2024 10-0 with Buffalo.
