Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Luis Dorante played in the minors from 1987 to 1993 before becoming a minor league coach and manager.
Dorante was coach of the Fort Lauderdale Red Sox in 1993, before managing for many years. He served as the Florida Marlins bullpen coach in 2005 and became manager of the Carolina Mudcats of the Southern League in 2006. After one seasons at the helm with the Mudcats, he became skipper of the Jupiter Hammerheads. In 2008, he was named bullpen coach of the Pittsburgh Pirates. After spending 2009 and 2010 on the Pirates staff, he became the Pirates' Latin American Field Coordinator in 2011. In 2012, Dorante moved to the New York Yankees' organization as a coach for the Trenton Thunder. He also held that position in 2013 and 2018.
