Team History[edit]

The Lobos de Arecibo (Arecibo Wolves) played in the Puerto Rican League between 1961 and 2010. They won two league championships and the 1983 Caribbean Series. In 1999 the Lobos moved to Bayamon and became the Vaqueros de Bayamón. The team returned in 2005 but five years later they moved to San Juan.

Past players have included Tony Oliva, Phil Niekro, Cookie Rojas, Candy Maldonado, Jesus Vega, Bernie Williams, Orlando Merced, Dickie Thon, Ed Figueroa and Juan Beníquez. They also field a womens' baseball team (the Lobas de Arecibo) which won the first two Puerto Rican titles (2008-2009 and 2009-2010).
