Biographical Information[edit]
Lelo Prado played two seasons at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida before transferring to the University of Tampa, where he graduated in 1985.
Prado was an assistant at Hillsborough Community College in 1985 and at the University of Tampa from 1986 to 1988.
Prado was head coach for seven years at Tampa (1989-1995), where his players included future big leaguers Tino Martinez, Jeff Carter, Ozzie Timmons, and Sam Militello. He led Tampa to NCAA Division II titles in 1992 and 1993. He then spent 11 seasons at the University of Louisville (1996-2006). Prado then became the coach of the University of South Florida in 2007. He stepped down after the 2014 season, becoming associate athletic director for administration and external services at USF.
