Biographical Information[edit]
Lauren Gardner is a broadcaster who works for the MLB Network.
She first worked as a sideline reporter covering just about every major sport at the professional and collegiate level for CBS, Fox Sports and others. She also hosted pre-game and postgame shows and various other features. In 2019, she concurrently joined the MLB Network and NHL Network, again hosting a variety of shows and also contributing to special events. In a rarer assignment for a female broadcaster, she has also worked as a boxing reporter for DAZN.
She was part of a broadcasting first on July 20, 2021, when she was part of the first all-female broadcast team to work a major league game. The game was between the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field and joining her were Melanie Newman as the play-by-play announcer, Sarah Langs as the analyst, Alanna Rizzo as the on-field reporter, and Heidi Watney as her co-host on the pre-game and post-game shows. The game was broadcast on YouTube and available nationwide as a result.
Growing up in Colorado, she played softball in high school, then went on to study political science at the University of Colorado. She was a member of the Denver Broncos' cheerleading squad, then worked as an intern for the Fox Sports regional sports network based in Denver, CO.
