Biographical Information[edit]

Kyung-tae Kim pitched in the CPBL and KBO.

Kim was drafted by the LG Twins in the first round of the 1998 KBO draft, and he had a 7.71 ERA in 9 games in 1998. His ERA was 6.31 in 25 games in 1999, and he only pitched 4 games in 2000. The Twins then traded him to the Doosan Bears for cash, and Kim had a 15.75 ERA in 10 games in 2001. He was released after the 2002 season as he only had 3 appearances, then the Macoto Gida signed him. However, Kim allowed 6 runs in 2 2/3 innings in his only appearances, then he left Taiwan and returned to the KBO. He signed with the SK Wyverns, and he went 5-2 with a 2.33 ERA in 21 games in 2004. He pitched 42 games with a 5.03 ERA in 2005, then his ERA was 5.03 in 32 relief outings in 2006. Kim had a 2.96 ERA in 40 games in 2007, but he stayed in the minors in 2008 due to injuries and the Wyverns released him. The Twins picked him up, and Kim announced his retirement after having a 7.53 ERA in 20 games in 2009. He later coached the Wyverns from 2012 to 2020, and he was the pitching coach for the Twins minors team in 2022. The Twins named him their big league pitching coach in 2023.

Overall, Kim was 7-7 with a 5.24 ERA, pitched 187 1/3 innings and struck out 101 in 10 seasons in the KBO.
