Biographical Information[edit]
Kyle Denney was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 26th round of the 1999 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Chad MacDonald and made his pro debut that summer.
In 2005, while pitching for the Indians' Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo, Denney suffered a fractured skull and other injuries when he was hit in the head by a Joey Gathright line drive.
Denney, a right-handed control pitcher without a great fastball, is perhaps best known for being shot in the leg in 2004 while riding on the Indians' team bus in Kansas City, MO in 2004. He was not seriously injured because the go-go boots he was wearing at the time of the incident helped slow the bullet. Denney was wearing the boots and a USC (female) cheerleader uniform as part of a traditional rookie hazing ritual.
Denny is the second major leaguer born in Prague, OK. The first was Jim Thorpe.
In 2010-2011, he scouted for the Arizona Diamondbacks, signing Archie Bradley and Kyle Winkler.
