Biographical Information[edit]
Joey Gathright was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 32nd round of the 2001 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Benny Latino and made his pro debut the next summer.
Gathright became an internet sensation while with the Kansas City Royals when a YouTube video surfaced showing him jumping over a car. Later in the season, while trying to beat out an infield grounder, Gathright jumped over the bent-over pitcher to get safely to first.
After the 2012 season, Gathright was suspended for 50 games for testing positive for amphetamines.
