Chen was on Taiwan's roster for 2011 World Port Tournament, 2011 Baseball World Cup, and 2012 Haarlem Baseball Week. Chen had an elite 0.82 ERA in 11 innings in the World Port Tournament, and pitched a complete game against Cuba. The EDA Rhinos drafted Chen in the fourth round of the 2014 CPBL draft. The Tainan native didn't play well in pro baseball, as he only pitched 12 1/3 innings with a terrible 8.03 ERA in two years with the Rhinos. He was released by the Rhinos at the end of 2017 season.
