Biographical Information[edit]
Andy Van Hekken, who pitched in the majors in 2002 with the Detroit Tigers, went 8-6 for two teams in the minors in 2009 in the Houston Astros organization. He has pitched in nine countries, and as of 2017, 15 years after his last big league appearance, was still pitching with the Nexen Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Through 2017, Van Hekken is the last player to pitch a complete game shutout on his major league debut.
He is one of three major leaguers born in Holland, MI through 2017, with the others being Bill Morley and George Zuverink.
