Biographical Information[edit]

Kuan-Hsun Chen has pitched in the CPBL.

Chen went undrafted in 2021, and the Fubon Guardians signed him.[1] He spent his rookie year in the minor league, and he had a 6.75 ERA in 13 appearances. Chen broke out and collected a league-leading 11 holds in the minors with a 1.86 ERA in 25 games the next year, and he was called up on October. He ended up recording a 4.26 ERA in 14 games with the big club in 2022.[2]

He was the only regular left-handed reliever for the Guardians in 2023, and he notched 10 holds with a 3.47 ERA in 48 appearances. He ranked 4th in appearances, 7 behind Chun-Wei Wu. Chen also relieved Ching-Jung Chao in the 6th inning of 2023 CPBL All-Star Game 2, and he completed a shutout inning with a strikeout of Li Lin after allowing a double to Francisco Peña.[3]

Chen's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 90 mph, a curveball, slider and changeup.
