Biographical Information

Ching-Jung Chao has pitched in the CPBL.

Chao was drafted by the Wei Chuan Dragons in the 11th round of the 2020 CPBL Draft, but he suffered from yips in his rookie year, which he spent in the minors. He overcame it and debuted in 2021, but he only pitched 8 games with a 9.00 ERA. Chao broke out in 2022, having a 3.34 ERA in 31 appearances. He relieved Shih-Peng Chen in the 5th inning of 2023 CPBL All-Star Game 1, and he pitched a shutout inning with a strikeout of Namoh Iyang; Kuan-Hsun Chen succeeded him. Chao ended up collecting 5 holds with a 4.32 ERA in 36 appearances.

Chao's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 95 mph, a curveball and changeup.
