Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Kristopher Negron reached the majors with the Cincinnati Reds in 2012.

Negron was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the seventh round of the 2006 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Blair Henry and made his pro debut that year with the GCL Red Sox. He spent the majority of the next year with the Greenville Drive, stealing 29 bases in 112 games with the club. Splitting 2008 between three different clubs, he hit .265 with 8 home runs and 31 stolen bases.

Negron began 2009 with the Salem Red Sox, hitting .264 with 20 steals in 111 games, before being dealt to the Reds for Alex Gonzalez in August. He spent most of the following year, 2010, with the Carolina Mudcats and hit .272 with 11 homers and 34 stolen bases in 120 games with the team. He played the entire 2011 campaign with the Louisville Bats and was back with the team to start the next season. In early June, he was called up to the majors, and he made his big league debut as a pinch runner against the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 7, 2012. Two days later, he got his first at-bat in the majors, pinch-hitting for pitcher Bronson Arroyo and being walked by Brayan Villarreal of the Detroit Tigers.

Negron announced his retirement on Twitter on November 12, 2019 [1]. He was hired by the Seattle Mariners a week later as an assistant to the Director of Player Development. Negron became a manager with the Tacoma Rainiers in 2021. In 2022 he was named first base coach for the Mariners, a role he repeated in 2023.
