Biographical Information[edit]

Ki-tae Kim pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korea national baseball team.

Kim was drafted by the Samsung Lions in the 3rd round of the 2006 KBO draft, and he had a 8.10 ERA in 3 games in his first season. His ERA was 2.57 in 3 games in 2007, but he allowed 13 runs in 9 1/3 innings in 2008. Kim then missed the next two seasons due to military service, and he didn't pitch any games for the big club in 2011 due to injuries. Kim was 7-6 with a 2.79 ERA in 106 1/3 innings in the minors in 2012, but he surrendered 4 runs in 5 innings in his only appearance for the big club.

He then represented Korea in the 2012 Asian Championship. Kim pitched a shutout inning against China, then he started against Japan. However, he allowed 2 runs in 2 2/3 innings, and Kentaro Yoshinaga got the win over him. Korea won Bronze in the event. The Sokcho native only had 8 appearances combined in the next two seasons, and he recorded a 7.06 ERA in 23 games in 2015. Kim joined the rotation in 2016, but he struggled again as he went 4-4 with a 7.08 ERA. He only got one more appearance for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 2018. He later coached Dongsan High School.

Overall, Kim was 7-5 with a 7.33 ERA, struck out 80 in 143 2/3 innings in 9 seasons in the KBO.
