Biographical Information[edit]
Kenen Bailli was a productive outfielder for the Guantánamo Indians before defecting.
Bailli hit .367/.464/.647 as the Guantánamo left fielder in 2007-2008. He ranked among the Cuban Serie Nacional leaders in runs (74, tied for 8th), triples (9, tied with Leonis Martin for second), total bases (183, 7th), average (5th behind Yoandy Garlobo, Martin, Yasser Gomez and Yoandry Urgelles) and slugging (5th behind Alexei Bell, Alfredo Despaigne, Urgelles and Yosvani Peraza. He was left off the postseason All-Star team as the outfielders chosen were Bell, Despaigne and Urgelles.
Through 2007-2008, Kenen had batted .323 and slugged .492 in 5 seasons in Cuba. In 2008-2009, Kenen slipped to .296/.371/.508. He was still productive but only made the top 10 in one category - strikeouts (64, tied for 6th with Irait Chirino).
In 2009-2010, Bailli produced at a .377/.438/.569 rate with 65 RBI in 69 games. He tied Yunier Mendoza for 4th in the league in average behind only Despaigne, Jose Dariel Abreu and Henry Urrutia.
In 2011, Bailli signed with the Toronto Blue Jays (the scouts were Marco Paddy and Rafael Moncada) and appeared in the minors for the the Dunedin Blue Jays (5 for 17, 2B, HR, BB, 5 R in 7 G) and Gulf Coast Blue Jays (4 for 11).
