Yunier Mendoza has played for the Gallos de Sancti Spíritus.

Mendoza hit .363/.443/.452 and fielded .987 at 1B in 2007-2008. He tied Adalberto Ibarra for 9th in the league in average and was 4th in base hits (118), behind José Julio Ruíz, Alexei Bell and Ariel Sánchez. Through that season, his 9th, he had hit .305 and slugged .391.

In 2008-2009, Yunier remained steady with a .364/.441/.455 batting line, almost identical to his 07-08 performance. He fielded .989 at first. Not your typical first baseman, he only homered twice.

Mendoza produced at a .377/.435/.479 rate with 71 runs in 84 games in 2009-2010. He paced the Cuban Serie Nacional with 134 hits and tied Kenen Bailly for 4th in average, trailing Alfredo Despaigne, Jose Dariel Abreu and Henry Urrutia.
