Biographical Information[edit]
Ken Patterson was signed as a 3rd round pick in the 1985 amateur draft by the New York Yankees and scout Stan Saleski.
Patterson was sent along with Sammy Sosa from the Chicago White Sox to the Chicago Cubs for George Bell on March 30, 1992. He played just one year for the Cubs before joining the California Angels as a free agent. He struck out in his only career at bat against Omar Olivares on September 19, 1992.
He was the pitching coach of the Arkansas Travelers of the Texas League in 2006, after spending 2005 as pitching coach of the Batavia Muckdogs. In 2007 he was the pitching coach of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. Patterson returned to Arkansas from 2008 to 2010.
Ken is married to Karen Patterson and has one daughter, Kristen Patterson. During the off-season, Ken resides with his family in Waco, Texas where he enjoys golfing. His handicap is currently a zero. Ken is also an avid geologist and crossword puzzle shark. According to members of his family, he completes his crossword puzzles in Sharpie marker, so there is no room for error.
