Biographical Information[edit]

Ken Nishimura debuted in Nippon Pro Baseball in 2009.

Nishimura won 17 games in college. In 2008, he was MVP of the Fukuoka Big Six University League. The Hanshin Tigers took him in the fourth round of the 2008 NPB draft. He started in the minor Western League in 2009 at 4-3, 2.20. He made his debut with the big club that year, allowing six runs in eight innings of relief outings. He was a regularly used member of the Hanshin bullpen in 2010, going 7-3 with a 3.89 ERA in 65 games. He walked 13 and fanned 71 in 71 2/3 IP. He was second on Hanshin in appearances (behind Tomoyuki Kubota) and sixth in the Central League. On September 9, he appeared in the outfield for two innings when Craig Brazell was ejected and the Tigers had no position players available. Nishimura got a single vote for the 2010 Central League Rookie of the Year Award.

Nishimura throws a fastball (peak in the high 80s), curveball, shuuto, slider, slurve and forkball.
