Slurve
A slurve is a breaking ball pitch intermediate between a slider and a curve, hence the name. Some coaches and commentators dislike the slurve, feeling that it is a sign of sloppiness on the part of the pitcher, who should throw either a distinctly curve-like or slider-like pitch. Others do not make such fine distinctions and view it as being just one more kind of breaking ball.
