Keith Weiser pitched in the minor and independent leagues from 2006 to 2013.
He was drafted twice. Initially, he was taken by the Atlanta Braves in the 18th round of the 2003 amateur draft, one pick after future Rookie of the Year Chris Coghlan, but did not sign. He was next drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 3rd round of the 2006 amateur draft, one pick after pitcher Blake Wood and ahead of future relievers of note Zack Britton and Joe Smith.
In just his second professional campaign, he was 17-7 with a 3.75 ERA in 28 starts for the Single A Asheville Tourists. Two years later, with the Double A Tulsa Drillers, he was 9-15 with a 5.23 mark in 27 starts. After rebounding to 10-8 in 2010, Weiser reached Triple A for the first and only time in 2011 in a relief role. He played in indy ball in 2012 and 2013.
Overall, Weiser was 55-58 with a 4.19 ERA in 201 games (148 starts) at all levels. In 942 1/3 innings, he allowed 1,083 hits and 198 walks while striking out 575 batters. He averaged just 1.7 walks surrendered per nine innings and posted a K/BB ratio of 3.23.
He was a Mid-Season All-Star in 2007 and 2010.
