Biographical Information[edit]
Junnifer Pinero was with the Philippines national team in the 2001 Baseball World Cup, going 1 for 2 as the backup to Wilfredo Hidalgo at catcher. He allowed 5 steals in 6 tries. In the 2002 Asian Games, he split catching with Hidalgo and was 1 for 4, getting one of their three hits off Chenhao Li. He was in the 2003 Asian Championship and won Gold in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games. In the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, Pinero was 2 for 11, splitting catching almost 50-50 with Hidalgo; he allowed 5 swipes in five attempts. He was also in the 2006 Asian Games.
Pinero backed up Rommel Roja in the 2007 Asian Championship, striking out against Taiwan's Ying-Chieh Lin in his lone at-bat. He was with the Philippines when they won Silver in the 2007 Southeast Asian Games.
