Julio Paula played in the minor leagues and CPBL.
Paula began his professional career with the Toronto Blue Jays, and he hit .288/.362/.394 in 56 games for the Medicine Hat Blue Jays in 1979. He also hit .269/.296/.346 for the Dunedin Blue Jays and went 11-for-38 with the Utica Blue Jays in that season. Paula then recorded a 221/.282/.263 batting line for the Kinston Eagles in 1980, and he played 69 games with a .266/.363/.320 batting line for them in 1981. He also hit .248/.316/.333 in 55 games for the Florence Blue Jays in the '81 season, then he left the Blue Jays system. Paula went to the New York Mets in 1983, and he batted .306/.386/.450 for the Columbia Mets while having a .222/.292/.317 batting line with the Lynchburg Mets. He stayed in Lynchnurg in 1984, and he played 78 games with a .253/.360/.347 batting line. Paula played for the Algodoneros de Union Laguna of the Mexican League in 1985, and he hit .188/.269/.217 in 22 games for the Port Charlotte Rangers in 1988. The Mercuries Tigers signed him when they were founded in 1990, but Paula only played 24 games with a .203/.253/.297 batting line, and his professional career ended.
