Biographical Information[edit]

Corner infielder Juan Camacho began his professional career in 1998 at 17 years old and played until 2011.

He started in the New York Yankees system and remained there through 2003. In his first year stateside, 2000, he hit .303/.380/.463 with 4 home runs, 27 RBI and 49 hits in 46 games for the short-season GCL Yankees. He then hit 10 home runs in 2001 (to earn a spot on the Northwest League All-Star squad) and 17 in 2002. After slipping to .220/.261/.297 with 3 home runs and 37 RBI in 78 games in 2003, New York cut him loose and he joined the independent ranks. He hit 10 home runs in 2004, though 2005 was his breakout campaign: In 102 games between the El Paso Diablos and St. Paul Saints, Camacho hit .323/.381/.578 with 22 home runs and 105 RBI. He was a Central League All-Star and the Central League Player of the Year.

After hitting .444/.508/.778 with 4 home runs and 19 RBI in 13 games with El Paso to begin 2006, the Chicago White Sox signed him, though he batted just .228/258/.321 in 58 games for the Single-A Kannapolis Intimidators. It was back to the indy leagues, where he hit .296/.325/.455 with 11 home runs and 75 RBI for El Paso in 2007. After a middling 2008 campaign, he bounced back to hit .305/.343/.472 with 10 home runs and 69 RBI in 94 games in '09. In 2010, he hit .307/.339/.470 with 13 home runs and 63 RBI and in 2011, he batted .357/.377/.574 with 4 home runs and 27 RBI in 29 games for the Yuma Scorpions.

Overall, in the affiliated ranks, he hit .249/.298/.380 with 38 home runs and 201 RBI in 378 games stateside. In indy ball, he hit .302/.345/.482 with 82 home runs and 454 RBI. He also spent time in the Venezuelan Winter League, hitting .321 for the Aguilas del Zulia in 2006-2007 and .466 in 17 games for the Caribes de Anzoategui in 2010-2011.
