Biographical Information[edit]

The son of Carney Lansford, third baseman Josh Lansford was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the sixth round of the 2006 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Steve Fuller and made his pro debut that summer with the Boise Hawks, hitting .255 with 5 home runs and 35 RBI in 62 games and putting together a 17 game hitting streak in July. The next year, with the Peoria Chiefs, he hit .273 in 84 games. He began 2008 with the Daytona Cubs. In 2009, Lansford began a second career as a pitcher. In 2010 he moved to the Oakland A's chain. In 2012 he was pitching for the independent Long Island Ducks.

In addition to his father, Lansford has several other relatives who have played pro ball. His brother Jared Lansford currently plays in the Oakland Athletics organization, his uncle Jody Lansford played in the majors, and another uncle, Phil Lansford, also played minor league ball.
