Biographical Information[edit]

José Mayorga played in the Philadelphia Phillies minor league system from 2010-2015. Primarily a catcher, Mayorga played mostly in the lower minors though he did reach AA for one game in 2014. Overall, he hit .244/.342/.282 while appearing in 244 games.

Mayorga moved into the coaching ranks immediately after completing his playing career. He reached the major leagues in 2016 as a bullpen catcher for the Phillies. He moved to the Toronto Blue Jays organization the next year and was a bench coach for the Vancouver Canadians in 2017-2018. He became a manager in 2019 with the DSL Blue Jays. Mayorga was scheduled to manage the Bluefield Blue Jays in 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic caused the shutdown of the minor league season. In 2021 he was the bench coach for the FCL Blue Jays before taking over as manager in 2022-2023.

During the 2022/2023 offseason, Mayorga was the pitching coach for the Federales de Chiriqui in Panama.
