Biographical Information[edit]

Jose Lopez played in the minor leagues and CPBL.

Lopez began his professional career with the New York Mets, and he hit .323/.364/.433 in 45 games for the GCL Mets in 1994. He was 9th in the Gulf Coast League in average, between Marc Lewis and Carlos Hernandez. He hit .232/.319/.375 with 5 homers for the Capital City Bombers in 1995, then he improved to .291/.363/.434 with 11 homers and 18 steals for the St. Lucie Mets in 1996. Lopez struggled in 1997 as his batting line fell to .195/.231/.391 in St. Lucie, and he also hit .246/.290/.464 in 66 games with the Binghamton Mets and played 2 games for the AAA Norfolk Tides. He hit .275/.326/.443 in 1998 in Binghamton, but he slumped to .146/.175/.182 in 1999 and the Mets released him. Lopez then signed with the Wei Chuan Dragons of Taiwan, but he only went 2-for-16 in 1999 CPBL, and his professional career ended.
