Biographical Information

José Guzmán pitched a shutout inning for the Navegantes del Magallanes in the 2022-2023 Venezuelan League. He then made the Venezuelan national team for the 2023 Pan American Games. He got the start against title-bound Colombia but lost to Víctor Vargas as he didn't make it out of the first. He allowed three hits, a walk and four runs (all earned); Sergio Velis took over with one out. His lone out was a strikeout of Carlos Martinez. He did better against host Chile, relieving Velis and closing out the shutout win with a scoreless frame (marred only by a hit batsman). He was 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA for Magallanes in 2023-2024.
