Biographical Information[edit]
Johnny Johnston's only season in the majors was as the regular left fielder for the 1913 St. Louis Browns. At age 23, he was the youngest regular position player on the team.
Johnny was born in Longview, TX, in far eastern Texas near the Louisiana border. At age 20 he was playing in the Texas League, and in 1912 he hit .320 in the Southern Association.
In 1913, in addition to playing in the majors, he may have spent part of the season at Chattanooga. He was also in Chattanooga in 1914 and part of 1915.
In all, he played 10 seasons in the minors and managed two seasons. His minor league batting average was close to .300.
