Biographical Information[edit]
John Lennon played two years in the minor leagues (1955-1956). Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Martin Lennon, who was a New York City policeman. His grandparents had come from Ireland. He was the youngest of 7 children and had four brothers and two sisters. Two of the brothers joined an uncle on the New York Fire Department, he also joined the NYFD at age 25. An older brother, Bob Lennon, played with the New York Giants and Chicago Cubs. Lennon played with the Muskogee Giants in the Sooner State League from 1955 to 1956 and with the Northern League's St. Cloud Rox in 1956.
One can place him on the Beatles team with Frank Ringo.
