Biographical Information[edit]

Johan Jansson has played in the Elitserien and for the Swedish national team.

He debuted in 2007 with the Sundbyberg Heat, hitting .162/.208/.186 and leading infielders in fielding (.928). [1] In 2008, he batted .193/.288/.214. [2] For the 2009 Heat, he was at .172/.309/.172. [3] In 2010, he improved to .272/.327/.272 at age 21 and led second basemen in fielding (.970, .011 ahead of Elias Sölveling). [4]

In 2011, he hit .256/.355/.256 [5] followed by .254/.333/.312 in 2012. [6] During 2013, he produced at a .318/.378/.378 clip. [7] He stole 10 bases in 10 tries in 2014, hitting .314/.407/.357 and tying for sixth in swipes.

Jansson was 6 for 28 with 6 walks, a triple, 7 runs and 4 RBI in 2015. [8] The next year, he hit .197/.287/.239. [9] His batting line in '17 was .230/.370/.285 and was among the leaders in walks (20, 4th) and runs (2nd, 2 behind Shane Salley). [10] He was at .309/.398/.422 for the 2018 Heat, leading second basemen in fielding (.965, .001 ahead of Simon Emanuelsson). He stole 9 bases in 10 tries to tie for ninth. [11]

Johan hit .273/.367/.369 though his fielding fell to .892, last among qualifying second basemen in 2019. [12] He still made Sweden's team for the 2019 European Championship, backing up Pär Axelsson at 1B. He went 0 for 4 against Israel's Eric Brodkowitz, Ben Wanger and Jon Moscot in his lone start. Pinch-running for Axelsson his other game, he scored a run. [13]

The veteran led second basemen in fielding in a COVID-19-shortened 2020 season, handling 29 chances without an error. He was only 4 for 50, with 6 walks and 10 runs. [14] He did not play in 2021 so his career may be over.
