Biographical Information[edit]

Joe Ganote pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Ganote was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 41st round of the 1990 Amateur Draft, and he was 3-0 with four saves and a 2.73 ERA for the St. Catharines Blue Jays in 1990. He was 8-6 with a 3.42 ERA for the Myrtle Beach Hurricanes in 1991 with over a strikeout per inning, and he also went 2-1 with a 3.08 ERA for the Dunedin Blue Jays. He tied for 4th in the Jays chain in wins while only Pat Hentgen and Ricardo Jordan struck out more batters. Ganote was 6-10 with a 3.97 ERA in Dunedin in 1992, and his ERA was 4.15 with a 8-6 record for the Knoxville Smokies in 1993. That winter, he was 3-4 with a 2.04 ERA for the Honolulu Sharks to lead the Hawaii Winter League in ERA, though Chris Hancock won the best pitcher award.

In 1994, Ganote was 4-6 with a 2.73 ERA for the Smokies, and he reached the AAA level; he had a 3-7 record with a 4.10 ERA for the Syracuse Chiefs. He allowed 12 runs in 10 2/3 innings for the Chiefs in 1995, and he moved to the Milwaukee Brewers system. Ganote was 5-1 with a save and a 1.61 ERA for the El Paso Diablos, and he went 7-4 with a 3.42 ERA for the New Orleans Zephyrs. Only Brian Tollberg and Jeff D'Amico had more wins among Brewers farmhands. He struggled with the Zephyrs in 1996 as his ERA was 5.19 with a 6-11 record, then he became a free agent. The Wei Chuan Dragons of Taiwan signed him, and Ganote was 2-5 with a 5.16 ERA for them in 1997. The 1997 season was the last season for him as a professional player.
