Biographical Information[edit]

Jhorge Liccien has played in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.

Liccien was signed by the New York Yankees in 2007. He made his pro debut with the 2008 DSL Yankees 2; he hit .274/.325/.381, fielded .997 at catcher and threw out 32% of those who tried to steal. In 2009, he came stateside with the GCL Yankees and struggled a lot on offense (.100/.182/.100, 1 RBI in 29 G) while his defense was not as sharp either (.977 FLD%, 30% CS). The next summer, he played for the Charleston RiverDogs (1 for 5, BB) and GCL Yankees (.215/.279/.342 in 27 G). With the 2011 Staten Island Yankees, he hit .157/.230/.206, fielded .987 and threw out 31% of attempted base-stealers. In 161 minor league games as a position player, he had batted .210/.273/.289 with 62 runs and 46 RBI.

Moving to pitcher with the 2012 DSL Yankees 1, he went 1-2 with a save and a 3.94 ERA in 13 games; he struck out 15 and walked 4 in 16 innings. That ended his time in the Yanks chain. He was back at catcher with Venezuela for the 2017 Bolivarian Games, splitting time with Derwin Pinto. He went 2 for 12 with two runs and a RBI while playing error-free ball. Starting and hitting 7th in the Bronze Medal Game, he was 1 for 4 with a run and a RBI in a win over El Salvador.
