Derwin Pinto played in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.
Pinto was signed by the Boston Red Sox. He hit .220/.385/.268 with 19 walks in 28 games for the 2007 DSL Red Sox, .188/.381/.238 with 21 walks in 29 games in 2008 and .200/.298/.238 in 30 games (down to 14 BB) in 2009, all with the DSL Red Sox. He hit .202/.352/.247 in 87 minor league games, with 41 runs and 38 RBI, driving in 54. He threw out 38% of those who tried to steal.
Pinto played for Venezuela when they won the Bronze Medal in the 2017 Bolivarian Games. Splitting catching with Jhorge Liccien, he went 4 for 10 with two walks, two runs and two RBI.
