Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Jeff Morris attended the University of Arizona, where he played on the 1980 College World Series champion team. He was then taken by the Houston Astros in the 15th round of the 1980 amateur draft. He played four years in their organization before shoulder and knee surgeries ended his playing days.
Following his playing career, he was a pitching coach in the minor leagues and at his alma mater, the University of Arizona, and a big league scout. Morris coached the Everett Giants in 1987, Clinton Giants in 1988-1989, San Jose Giants in 1990, GCL Mets in 1991, Pittsfield Mets in 1992, Bluefield Orioles in 1993, Albany Polecats in 1994, High Desert Mavericks in 1995, and Frederick Keys in 1996-1997.
Morris was an assistant coach at Arizona in 1985-1986 and 2002-2003. He scouted for the Baltimore Orioles in 1998-2001, and has been a scout for the Cincinnati Reds since 2004 (as of 2020).
