Biographical Information[edit]

Javier Wong debuted for the Ecuadorian national team in the 2022 South American Championship. In his first game, he relieved Israel Saldarriaga in the bottom of the 4th with a 7-0 deficit against Argentina, one on and two out. He allowed a RBI single to José Gerez then retired Mauricio Nagahashi. In the 5th, he walked Sebastián García and allowed a single to Jacinto Cipriota and a two-run double to Agustín Tissera to cause the game to come to a mercy rule ending. His other two outings went far better, with 1 2/3 shutout innings against Bolivia and getting his first K (Cristian Soliz) then going 2 2/3 scoreless versus champion Brazil.
