Biographical Information[edit]

Javier Dominguez was a minor league player for seven years.

Dominguez signed with the Atlanta Braves in 2002 and was 1 for 2 that year for the DSL Braves. He remained with the same club in 2003 (.254), 2004 (.258) and 2005 (.197). In 2006, he batted .217/.356/.246 for the GCL Braves and was hit by pitch 10 times in 29 games, putting him second in the Gulf Coast League. He hit .191/.244/.318 for the 2007 Danville Braves and .207/.275/.271 for the 2008 Rome Braves. He had 16 passed balls for Rome in just 37 games at catcher and allowed 55 steals in 68 tries. He later played for Panama in the 2009 Bolivarian Games (Gold) and 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games.

He struck out in his lone at-bat in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He starred in the 2013 Bolivarian Games, with 5 RBI against Peru, 3 runs against Bolivia and a homer off Juan Colmenarez in the Gold Medal game win over Venezuela as Panama won the title. Playing the corner outfield spots, he hit .464/.516/.786 with 10 runs and 12 RBI in 7 games in the event. His 9 runs in the round-robin phase were one behind leader Jeffer Patino and he led in RBI (11), 5 ahead of runners-up Gabriel Purroy, Ramon Castillo and Jorge Pastor.

In the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, he again dazzled for Panama, hitting .467/.530/.867 with 5 RBI in four games, including 3 in the 5-0 win over Guatemala in the 7th/8th place game. He was third in the event in average (.004 behind Dainer Moreira and Alfredo Despaigne), second in slugging (.196 behind Manuel Hernández) and tied for 4th in RBI with Despaigne, Pedro Feliz and Víctor Méndez. He batted .278/.409/.333 with four RBI in five games in the 2017 Bolivarian Games as Panama claimed the Silver Medal.
