Biographical Information[edit]

Jarrod Hodges played in the minors and for the Australian national team. He is the son of John Hodges. [1]

Hodges was 1-for-4 with a triple, two runs and three RBI for the Victoria Aces in the 1999-2000 International Baseball League of Australia. [2] He hit a scorching .375/.404/.490 for IBLA Australia the next winter, trailing only A.J. Zapp and Chris Snelling in OBP. [3] He began his professional career with the Seattle Mariners, and he hit .273/.371/.462 with the AZL Mariners in his first year. His five homers tied him for 4th in the Arizona League.

He represented Australia in the 2001 Baseball World Cup, batting .174/.269/.217 while playing error-free defense as their starter in center field. [4] For Victoria in the 2002 Claxton Shield, he hit .353/.522/.471 with 3 steals and 7 runs in 5 games. He tied Mat Buckley and Lachlan Dale for the run lead, tied for 4th in steals and tied Clint Balgera and Craig Watts for 3rd with 6 walks. [5]

The Victoria native played 33 games in the AZL in 2002 with a .256/.362/.380 batting line, and he left the Mariners system. In the '03 Shield, he was excellent again at .346/.500/.538 with 9 runs and 14 RBI in 7 contests. He tied Balgera for the walk lead, was 5th in OBP and he trailed only Brett Tamburrino in runs. He was named a second-team All-Star in the outfield. [6]

He batted .350/.409/.450 in the 2004 Claxton Shield then slipped to .208/.321/.250 in 2005 to end his career. [7]
