Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Jared Clark played in the minor leagues from 2009 to 2013. He was an effective slugger, but never advanced beyond High A. While in the Rockies chain, he was consistently 2-3 years older than the average league hitter.

He was drafted four times. He was originally taken by the Houston Astros in the 19th round of the 2004 amateur draft, a couple picks ahead of pitcher Micah Owings and in the same round as future star David Price, but he opted not to sign. He was then taken by the Cleveland Indians in the 21st round of the 2007 amateur draft, a couple picks ahead of pitcher Jeremy Horst and in the same round as future star Chris Sale. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim then took him in the 45th round of the 2008 amateur draft. He finally signed after being taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 12th round of the 2009 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Jon Lukens.

Over two years older that the average player in the Pioneer League his first year, the 23-year-old hit .349/.424/.591 with 11 home runs and 44 RBI in 58 games in 2009. In 2010, Clark hit .299/.412/.541 with 24 home runs and 82 RBI in 110 games for the Asheville Tourists to lead the South Atlantic League in homers; Chris Dominguez was number two with 21 dingers. He made the SAL Post-Season All-Star team and was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star. Clark slipped to .229/.313/.388 with 7 home runs and 33 RBI in 61 games for the Modesto Nuts in 2011. Back with Modesto in 2012, he rebounded to hit .236/.369/.465 with 24 home runs and 95 RBI in 122 games. He was again a MiLB.com Organization All-Star. In 2013, he moved to the independent ranks, hitting .236/.358/.483 with 20 home runs and 59 RBI in 98 games for the Sioux Falls Canaries.

Overall, Clark hit .265/.377/.488 with 86 home runs and 313 RBI in 449 games over 5 seasons.

He also participated in the 2008 Haarlemse Honkbalweek.
