Biographical Information[edit]

Jeremy Horst made his major league debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 2011 in fine fashion, posting a 2.93 ERA in 12 games. He was shuffled a number of times between Cincinnati and AAA. He also pitched in the minors from 2007-2010, mostly as a reliever.

Few major leaguers have been born in Wyoming. When Jeremy Horst made his debut in 2011, he was only the thirteenth from Wyoming. Utilityman Zach Walters and outfielder Brandon Nimmo, both also from Wyoming, followed him to the majors in 2013 and 2016, respectively. He is also the only major leaguer (through 2011) with the last name Horst, although there was once an Oscar Horstmann. Horst and Adam Bernero are, through 2011, the only major leaguers out of Armstrong Atlantic State University.

On January 25, 2012, the Reds traded Horst to the Philadelphia Phillies in return for infielder Wilson Valdez. His 2012 campaign showed indications of future stardom, as he went 2-0 with a 1.15 ERA in 32 relief appearances, striking out 40 batters in 31 1/3 innings. The next year, 2013, was 2012's foil, as he went 0-2 with a 6.23 mark in 28 appearances to wrap up his big league career.
