Biographical Information[edit]
Submariner Jang-hee Park pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization for 4 years.
Park played for South Korea in the 1998 Baseball World Cup, going 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA. He lost to Canada's Brett Kondro and beat the Netherlands' Rob Cordemans. In the semifinals, he defected Italy and Christian Mura to send Korea to the title game, where they fell to Cuba. He tied 14 others for the Cup lead in wins, including such luminaries as José Contreras, Koji Uehara and Pedro Luis Lazo.
The Hyundai Unicorns selected him in the first round of the 1999 KBO draft, and he went 6-7 with a 4.91 ERA and 5 saves in 1999 season. He was 10th in saves, tied with Yu-seok Song. He was 9-3 with a 3.90 ERA in 2000, then he went 4-5 with a 5.53 ERA in 2001. Park's ERA was 6.14 in 13 games in 2002, then he was in a car accident and he missed a season. He was caught (along with 50 other players) having manipulated urine tests to dodge military service. Cho spent 6 months in prison, then had to complete his service. Park was in the military from 2004 to 2007, then he signed with the Woori Heroes. He stayed in the minors for the entire 2008 season, then he announced his retirement. He is a scout for the Doosan Bears as of 2024.
Overall, Park was 19-15 with a 4.86 ERA, struck out 185 and pitched 333 innings in 4 seasons in the KBO.
