Biographical Information

Broadcaster Jamie Campbell first got his start as an archives librarian for Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts on the CBC. In 1993, he moved to Edmonton, AB and covered the local sports scene for the public network, including the Edmonton Trappers of the Pacific Coast League. In 1997 and 1998, he worked in Ottawa, ON covering the Ottawa Senators and Ottawa Lynx, then caught a big break in 1999 when he was hired as an anchor for the newly created CTV Sportsnet cable sports network, which later became Rogers Sportsnet.

He was the first host of Sportsnet flagship news program, Sportscentral, while also covering special events. In 2005, he took over as play-by-play analyst for Toronto Blue Jays games on Sportsnet, following the untimely death of John Cerutti, a dream job for him as he had grown up a fanatical Jays fan. He held the job for three seasons, until he was replaced in 2009 by Buck Martinez, who had held the job previously before serving a brief stint as the Jays' manager. However, Campbell remained involved in Jays broadcasts, hosting the pre- and post-game show Blue Jays Central, alongside analyst Gregg Zaun. The two would also comment on the on-going game during innings. Zaun was fired for making inappropriate gestures towards female employees of the network following the 2017 season, but Campbell was kept on the job while the network looked for a new partner. Former major league catcher Joe Siddall was named shortly after that.

In addition to baseball, he covered the acrobatic skiing events at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
