Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher James Leverton played in the minor leagues from 2008 to 2014. He briefly reached Triple A in 2013.

He was taken in the 8th round of the 2008 amateur draft by the Chicago Cubs (Trey Forkerway was the signing scout), between Brett Oberholtzer and Bobby LaFromboise and began his professional career that year. He had multiple seasons of note, including 2010, when he was 10-1 with nine saves a 2.75 ERA in 49 games for the Peoria Chiefs and Daytona Cubs and 2011, when he was 11-6 with a 2.19 ERA in 19 games (15 starts) for the independent New Jersey Jackals and Greensboro Grasshoppers of the Florida Marlins organization.

Overall, he went 31-23 with a 3.68 ERA in 175 games (44 starts).
