Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Jakob Marsee was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 6th round of the 2022 amateur draft out of Central Michigan University. He began his pro career that same year, appearing 1n 13 games for the ACL Padres and another 18 with the Lake Elsinore Storm of the California League. He batted a combined .240 with 2 homers and 11 RBIs.

He had a very good season in 2023 as he hit .273 in 113 games for the Fort Wayne TinCaps of the Midwest League, and .286 in 18 games for the San Antonio Missions of the AA Texas League. His combined slash line 129 games was .274/.413/.428 with 16 homers and 103 runs scored as he showed excellent lead-off skills. He was named a Midwest League post-season All-Star and a Padres organizational All-Star, then went on to play in the Arizona Fall League, being named the circuit's Most Valuable Player. He started 2024 with San Antonio but was hitting just .177 after 24 games when he was traded to the Miami Marlins along with three other prospects, P Woo-Suk Go, OF Dillon Head and 1B Nathan Martorella, in return for two-time batting champion Luis Arráez on May 4th. He was assigned to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos of the Southern League.
